Clemens Collection

In 1948, straight after the end of the Second World War, Hans Clemens and his family moved to Germany. He opened a small shop in Mannheim selling glass, china and gifts. The customers continually asked for teddy bears, because they were not available after the war. Hans decided to help the customers and their children and started manufacturing bears made of German Armed Forces' old blankets. His sister made them affectionately by hand - Every teddy was an individual and tenderly manufactured single item.
