Richard Steiff invented the Teddy bear in 1902. Enriching the design year by year until 1905 when he created the “perfect” Teddy bear. Made in grey with a soft, friendly face and innovative disc joints, a method so successful that it is still used today. This original 1905 grey bear lives in the Steiff Museum. Richard’s perfected Teddy bear is delighted to join the Teddies for tomorrow range as part of a new series of iconic characters using alternative materials. He wears the 1897 company logo chest tag which is etched with the Steiff company logo and he has wooden eyes and a brass 'Button in Ear'.
